Michael joined Gentai Capital Corporation in June 2022 to lead the firm’s National Residential and Commercial lending teams, including its Origination, Credit Risk, Mortgage Funding Operations, and Servicing Departments.
Michael’s primary responsibilities are leading strategic planning, launching new product lines, and maintaining partnership compliance with private and institutional investors. Michael also focuses on ensuring the integration of sales and service management activities across the organization.
During his 25+ years in the industry, Michael served in a variety of leadership positions at global and regional banks and with Canada’s largest non-bank lender. Michael’s diverse professional experiences include personal banking and wealth management, commercial and corporate banking, overseeing new branch openings, large-scale real estate syndication loans, A/B lending, and growing product lines. Throughout his years as a leader in the mortgage business, Michael recognized the importance of teambuilding, demonstrating a strong understanding of market dynamics and working to create financial solutions that make sense for everyone.
Michael holds an MBA in financial services from Dalhousie University and an undergraduate degree in finance and economics and has earned designations as a Personal Financial Planner (PFP) and Specialist, Trust Institute (STI). Michael served on the Board of Directors for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Advisory Committee for the City of Richmond, advising the Mayor and Council on economic issues and trends. Previously, Michael also volunteered as Director of the Richmond Community Foundation, an organization that distributes grants to local charities.
