James joined Gentai in 2020 with a mandate to grow our presence in Canada by originating high-quality mortgage loans from high-quality borrowers. For him, origination is more than a task, it is a calling that allows James to work together with other members of our team to help clients achieve their goals through creative lending structures delivered with detail-oriented service.
Since the early 2000s, James has immersed himself in the finance industry. Earlier in his career, he worked for some of Canada’s biggest banks where he progressed from serving clients in diversified industries to a concentration on commercial real estate. Immediately prior to Gentai, he was Assistant Vice President, Origination at one of Canada’s largest private commercial real estate lenders where he specialized in predevelopment, land, servicing, construction and bridge financing. James is an entrepreneur at heart who has put his own money on the line in real estate developments over the years. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance major) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a licensed mortgage broker in Ontario. James puts a premium on building trusted relationships.
