Today, we’re delighted to introduce you to a member of our Operations Team, Mandeep Atwal, who works as a Funding Officer in our Lending Department.
1. What is your favourite part about working at Gentai?
“I’m always learning something new. This role requires in-depth knowledge and expertise for both residential and commercial transactions. I enjoy the daily challenges, and my responsibilities ensure that I am always learning. The constant growth here at Gentai keeps me motivated and excited about the future.”
2. What Gentai quality do you best exemplify?
“Gentai promotes three core values – Integrity, Excellency, and Passion. I enjoy the work culture that has been established here. We treat each other with kindness and respect. Being in an environment that aligns with my beliefs makes my work more enjoyable.”
3. Can you please explain your professional journey with Gentai and what it’s like working in the lending department?
“My journey with Gentai started earlier this year in July. I’ve been here for a short period of time, but it’s been amazing so far. The office environment is so welcoming that it makes it easier for me to grow in my role.”
4. Can you share an example of a time when you felt the company’s values were demonstrated in the workplace?
“At Gentai, we manage our work with utmost integrity. My team members complete their tasks honestly and with great attention. We always demonstrate Gentai’s core values.”
5. What does a typical day look like for you?
“We begin the morning in a huddle with our Operations team. This is usually led by our VP of Operations.
A better part of the day is spent liaising with lawyers. We discuss details on loan files, and I instruct them with mortgage packages. I also communicate often with the origination and underwriting teams to confirm details about closings. I do this to organize and verify the different aspects of the loan funding process.
I also review mortgage documents to ensure the mortgage is in compliance with our guidelines prior to releasing funds. I also ensure wire and electronic transfers go through smoothly to allow mortgage transactions to be funded on time.”
