Executive Team
Tina Mu is the Co-founder and President of Gentai Capital Corporation and oversees all operations of Gentai Financial Group. Prior to founding Gentai, Tina worked in one of the major Canadian financial institutions for 20 years. Her accumulated Mortgage lending amount exceeds over $1 billion. Tina has an MBA, and she is a designated Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a licensed Sub-Mortgage Broker.
For 5 consecutive years, from 2015 to 2019, Tina Mu was nominated for Canada Mortgage Award under Top Commercial Mortgage Broker category, and became one of the TOP 10 Finalists.

Peter Yang is the Managing Director and Co-founder of Gentai Capital Corporation. He is responsible for all daily operations of Gentai Financial Group, as well as developing and executing strategic plans.
He has worked in financial services, real estate and mortgage business for 20+ years. He graduated with Bachelor degree of Arts, is a registered Sub-mortgage broker and completed the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course offered by Canadian Securities Institute.
Michael joined Gentai Capital Corporation in June 2022 to lead the firm’s National Residential and Commercial lending teams, including its Origination, Credit Risk, Mortgage Funding Operations, and Servicing Departments.
Michael’s primary responsibilities are leading strategic planning, launching new product lines, and maintaining partnership compliance with private and institutional investors. Michael also focuses on ensuring the integration of sales and service management activities across the organization.
During his 25+ years in the industry, Michael served in a variety of leadership positions at global and regional banks and with Canada’s largest non-bank lender. Michael’s diverse professional experiences include personal banking and wealth management, commercial and corporate banking, overseeing new branch openings, large-scale real estate syndication loans, A/B lending, and growing product lines. Throughout his years as a leader in the mortgage business, Michael recognized the importance of teambuilding, demonstrating a strong understanding of market dynamics and working to create financial solutions that make sense for everyone.
Michael holds an MBA in financial services from Dalhousie University and an undergraduate degree in finance and economics and has earned designations as a Personal Financial Planner (PFP) and Specialist, Trust Institute (STI). Michael served on the Board of Directors for the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Advisory Committee for the City of Richmond, advising the Mayor and Council on economic issues and trends. Previously, Michael also volunteered as Director of the Richmond Community Foundation, an organization that distributes grants to local charities.
Michael is proud of the reputation he’s earned as an individual dedicated to getting things done while remaining eager to learn new things and break new ground. Michael is excited to spread the word about Gentai Capital, increasing market awareness by creating new product lines and solidifying new institutional relationships. Residential Mortgage Team
Sunny is a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience working in prominent financial institutions, coupled with more than 5 years of expertise as a mortgage broker specializing in private, residential, and commercial financing. Throughout his career, Sunny has established himself as a respected figure within the industry and has been recognized as a top performer.
At Gentai Capital Corporation, Sunny assumes a pivotal role, focusing on driving growth in Western Canada, with a particular emphasis on the residential market in British Columbia. He will be instrumental in providing comprehensive training and coaching to our partner brokers, ensuring their proficiency in Gentai’s products. In addition, Sunny’s proactive approach enables him to identify lucrative opportunities by staying focused on current market trends.
Sunny’s unwavering motivation and positive energy makes him an invaluable asset to our team. Sunny’s academic pursuits include studying at the University of the Fraser Valley and at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, further enhancing his well-rounded expertise.
Arvin’s role is central to the growth and prosperity of our business and reputation for responsive customer service. Day to day, he reviews credit applications to ensure that our mortgage loans are risk-appropriate for our funds, sustainable throughout their terms and provide investment returns consistent with our hurdle rates. Based on close to a decade in the industry, he views every application as a puzzle with multiple pieces. Working with our underwriting team, he solves those puzzles quickly by expertly poring over credit bureaus, income documentation, third-party appraisals, and background checks to arrive at solutions that work.
Arvin got his start in the industry at First National as a Funder, then progressed to Junior Underwriter and then Senior Underwriter. At Gentai since 2020, he has enhanced workflow and broker satisfaction while supporting our position as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies. Arvin is a graduate of Simon Fraser University (Economics).
Commercial Loan Origination Team
James joined Gentai in 2020 with a mandate to grow our presence in Eastern Canada by originating high-quality mortgage loans from high-quality borrowers. From him, origination is more than a task, it is a calling that allows James to work together with other members of our team to help clients achieve their goals through creative lending structures delivered with detail-oriented service.
Since the early 2000s, James has immersed himself in the finance industry. Earlier in his career, he worked for some of Canada’s biggest banks where he progressed from serving clients in diversified industries to a concentration on commercial real estate. Immediately prior to Gentai, he was Assistant Vice President, Origination at one of Canada’s largest private commercial real estate lenders where he specialized in predevelopment, land, servicing, construction and bridge financing. James is an entrepreneur at heart who has put his own money on the line in real estate developments over the years. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance major) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a licensed mortgage broker in Ontario. James puts a premium on building trusted relationships.
Operations Team
As a leading mortgage funds asset manager, Gentai sets ambitious operational goals. Ryan and his team are responsible for building operational procedures that support strong lending unit growth, ensuring effective post-funding administration and achieving risk-adjusted yield aligned to our institutional mandates. Ryan joined us in 2021 and was immediately instrumental in establishing the operations behind Gentai Residential Mortgage Fund.
Earlier in his distinguished career, Ryan served as a team member in a commercial business unit of Canada’s largest bank where he provided financial services to top-tier developers, builders, and investors. As a specialized mortgage lender, he underwrote commercial mortgages on a wide variety of real estate asset classes and thereafter, performed post-funding management functions to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Ryan uses these leadership experiences to nurture a results-oriented, detail-focused culture within our highly motivated operations team. Ryan holds an MBA from Thompson River University and Master of Finance from Depaul University. Ryan is also a CFA Charterholder (and member of the CFA Society Vancouver Chapter) and a life member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
